1924 – 2015
Bathurst – It is with sad hearts that the family announces the death of our father, Wilfred Bertin, who passed away peacefully at the Foyer Notre Dame de Lourdes, on January 25th, 2015 at the age of 90.
Born in St. Anne Glouc. Co, he was the son of the late Joseph and Emma (Doucet) Bertin.
He was pre-deceased by his wife, Stella (Comeau) Bertin, his loving wife of 63 years.
He was extremely proud of his children: Roger (Nicole Doiron) from Bathurst, Claudette (Jean-Paul Boudreau) from Beresford, Denise (Reed Kennedy) from Dieppe and Marie-Claire (Zafer Chakhachiro) from Brossard, Que.
Eight grandchildren: Philippe, Jean-Michel, Simon, Julie, Louis-Olivier, Alexandre, Stéphanie, and Sophie.
Two great granddaughter: Amélie and Isabelle.
He was fond of his sister, Maria Blanchard of Bathurst and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers: Joseph, Leonard and (Albert (in infancy); four sisters: Rita, Delcina, Martha, Aldéa and his son-in-law, Alain Bourget.
Wilfred worked as a mechanic and service manager for Lounsbury’s Automotive for over 40 years. He kept himself active throughout his "retirement years" in Watch and Clock repair. He will mostly be remembered for his patience and his calm and affectionate demeanor. Wilfred was a 4th Degree member the Msgr. Wheaton Assembly, Knights of Columbus, Bathurst.
Visiting hours are from Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton), Bathurst, on Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 7 to 9 and Friday from 2 p.m. until time of Funeral.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday January 30, 2015 at 4 p.m. from Holy Family Church.
Donations in memory of Wilfred may be made to the Foyer Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes Foundation or a favorite charity.
