1930 - 2015
It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of Grant Lawrence Hachey of Bathurst, New Brunswick, who passed away at the age of 84. Grant passed away on Friday, May 29th, 2015 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital for which he was accompanied by many members of his family.
Grant was born in Kedgwick, New Brunswick and was the son of the late Lawrence and Margaret (Grant) Hachey.
Despite being born in Kedgwick, Grant lived all of his life in Bathurst and never ventured far away from his family and friends. For 38 years, Grant worked at the local Stone Consolidated Paper Mill right until the day he retired in 1988. After his retirement, Grant spent all of his time with his daughters and grandchildren. His annual "Lobster Garage Party" and "Canada Day Fire Works Gathering" was continuously held at his house on Riverside Drive each and every year. He surrounded himself around his family and friends always putting his family first.
Grant is survived by his two daughters: Gail Hennessy; wife of Tom Hennessy, and Debbie Branch, wife of the late Harold Branch.
His six grandchildren: Tammy, Kyle, Craig, Kelsey and Keana, Jason.
His four great grandchildren: Nathan, Cody, Tanisha and Connor and his two brothers: Weldon (Germaine) of Bathurst and Nick (Janet) of Ontario.
Grant was predeceased by the mother of his children, Kathleen; his one sister, Helen; three brothers: Eloi, Mike and Gerald and his one step brother, Aurele.
Visitations will be held on Monday, June 1st, 2015 from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm at Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), St. George St, Bathurst. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 2nd, 2015 at 11 am at Holy Family Church, St. Peter Avenue.
