1940 - 2015

North Tetagouch, NB – Mrs. Evelyn Coombs – 75, wife of Gerald Coombs, of North Tetagouche, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2015 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst. 

Born in Clifton, she was the daughter of the late Hibbert and Clara (Scott) Breckenridge.

She worked as a custodian for the school district for over 20 years.  More then just a custodian, Evelyn was a support and guidance to students and staff.  She was a pillar of the school and served as the go to person when a problem arose. In her early years she worked for Kimberly & Clark in Ontario.

She is survived seven sons: Cydric Breckenridge of Big River, Douglas Coombs (Karen), Miles Coombs both of Bathurst, John Coombs (Nancy Frenette) of Big River, Carl Coombs of St. Catherine’s, Ont., Gary Coombs (Laura Parson) of Stouffville, ON, Franklin Coombs (Annie) of Beresford.  Two daughters: Marilyn Coombs (Vince McCormick) of Riverview and Shirley Coombs (Ron Bissonette) of Ottawa, ON.

Twenty five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

One sister, Mary Matheson-Lorio (Joseph) of Ontario.

Four brothers:  Charles Breckenridge (Beverly), Morley Breckenridge and Royal Breckenridge all of Clifton and Donald Breckenridge of Edmonton, Alta.

Many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by four sisters: Ida, Emily, Grace, Mabel and two brothers: Percy and Hibbert.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com) , St. George St, Bathurst. 

A funeral service will be held from Elhatton Funeral Chapel on Thursday afternoon June 11, 2015 at 5 p.m.

Donations in memory of Evelyn may be made to the Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
