Bathurst – Gérard ''Gerry'' Guignard, 91, formerly of Murray Ave., Bathurst, passed away on Thursday July 2, 2015 at the Robert L. Knowles Veterans Unit, Bathurst.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Henri and Ida (Vienneau) Guignard.
Gerry was a veteran of World War II with the Royal Canadian Air force serving in Canada and overseas, 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, Msgr. Wheten Assembly #0651, Bathurst and was retired from Canada Post.
He is survived by two children: Patrick Guignard (Sharon) of Bathurst and Lorraine Good (Robert) of Thompson, Man.
Five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Three brothers: Raoul "Ralph" Guignard of Bathurst, Yvon Guignard (Joan) of Beresford and Jean Claude Guignard (Francine) of Richibutou.
One sister, Sr. Imelda Guignard of Dieppe, N.B.
Several nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by a his wife, Anna ''Anne'' (Roy) Guignard and a great-granddaughter, Isabella.
The body will rest after 2 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2015 at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday afternoon July 7, 2015 at 2 p.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew St., Bathurst.
Visiting hours are Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and Tuesday from noon until time of Funeral.
Donations in memory of Gerry may be made to the Diabetes Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or a favorite charity.
