1931 - 2015
Salmon Beach - Ronald Chester Knowles of Salmon Beach, at the age of 84, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2015, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst. Born in Clifton, he was the son of the late Cyrus Knowles and Anna Jagoe.
He was a member of the St. Alban's Anglican Church, Salmon Beach. Ronald restored many antique vehicles and was an active member of the Maritime Pre-War Registry, Model T Ford Club International Ontario Region and the Model T Ford Club International Canadian Maritime T's. He worked as in security for the former Stone Container and also worked as a carpenter for most of his life.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy (Scott) Knowles.
Four sons: Melvin (Linda) of Janeville, Wade (Eileen) of Breslau, Ont., Allan (Kimberly) of Salmon Beach and Colin (Melony) of Lower Coverdale, N.B.
Five grandchildren: Devon, Lauren, Sarah, Bryce and Keira.
Two brothers: Lance (Thelma) of Salmon Beach and William (Barbara) of Clifton.
Several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), St. George St., Bathurst.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 2 pm from Elhatton Funeral Chapel.
Special thanks to the staff at the Palliative Care Unit at the Chaleur Regional Hospital for their care and support and also to Dr. Anna Dugas for all of her hospital and home visits.
Donations in memory of Ronald may be made to the St. Alban's Cemetery fund, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
