Saint-Quentin, N.B. – J. Alfred Roussel, 94 years and 9 months, of Saint-Quentin, wife of the late Sylvia Jean, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2015, at the Résidence Mgr Melanson, Saint-Quentin
He was the son of the late Lazarre and Marie-Jeanne (Robichaud) Roussel.
He is survived by six children: Brenda Babin (Bobby) of Bathurst, Denis (Marie-Paule Caron) of Tracadie, Suzanne Richard (Livain) of Rockland, Ont., Michel (Pauline Côté) of Miramichi, Annelle Roussel (Daniel Houle) of Ste-Marthe-sur-le-Lac, Que., Daniel (Trang Vo) of Kitchener, Ont.
Nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
His good friend, Laurette Bourgoin.
One brother, Harvey (Laurette) of Bathurst.
Two sisters: Lorraine Boudreau of Fredericton and Tessie Harrison of London, Ont.
One sister-in-law, Yvonne Roussel of Moncton and several nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by two brothers: Omer, Gus and four sisters: Albertine, Géraldine, Rita and Alice.
Visiting hours are Sunday, November 15, 2015 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, November 16, 2015 from 9 a.m. until time of Funeral at la Résidence Funéraire Valcourt Inc., 254, rue Canada Saint-Quentin (http://www.salonvalcourt.ca).
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 16, 2015 at 11 a.m. from Église du Très St-Sacrement, Saint-Quentin.
Mr Roussel was a member of the RCMP from 1942 to 1954. Afterwards was the Chief of Police and Fire Chief in Edmundston from 1956 to 1964. In 1964, he became owner of Roussel Esso Service Station until 1982 and was also mayor of Saint-Quentin. In 1970, he entered political life and was elected member of the Legislative Assembly for Restigouche West until 1982. During his active life he was involved in many community volunteer organizations.
