It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Jean Evance Mallet, of Bathurst, which occurred Saturday on February 13, 2016 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, at the age of 79 years.
Born in Shippagan, N.B. Son of the late Wilfred F. Mallet and Virginie (Blanchard).
Jean is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Frances (Young).
Two children: Catherine (Robert Richard) of Saint Laurent, N.B., Gregoire (Michelle) Mallet of Edmonton, Alta.
Four grandchildren: Jennifer, Kenneth, Christopher and Jacqueline, several great grandchildren.
Four sisters: Cecile, Gertrude, Elza and Miranda.
One brother, Etienne, along with many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Jean was predeceased by four sisters: Eugenie, Rita, Lea, Gilberte and three brothers: Adolphe, Gerard and Reynald.
Jean worked for many years in mining at IOC (Schefferville), Magnacon (Wawa) and Potacan (Sussex) also for the Federal Government in Ottawa.
He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed golfing, was passionate about music and directed many choirs.
There will be no visitation at Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 11 am from Holy Rosary Church, St. Peter Ave, Bathurst.
Donations in memory of Jean may be made to the Parkinson Society or the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada.
