1949 – 2016
François Léger of Bathurst, passed away at the age of 66, on April 12, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Yvon Leger and the late Mélina (Cormier) Léger.
He worked at Brunswick mines until his retirement. During his lifetime he was involved in various local sports including Bathurst minor baseball, badminton NB and softball NB as an organizer, coach and official.
François is survived by two sons: Martin of Bathurst and Serge (Gabriela) of Vancouver; three grandchildren: Mathis, Tiago and Gabrielle, and the mother of his children, Lucille; four brothers and two sisters: Hélène Daigle (late Clifford) and Roger (Angélie) both of Bathurst; George (late Simonne), Roméo (Thérèse) and Eliette Porelle all of Shédiac; Léonce (Alina) of Sainte-Julie, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Bernard; a brother and a sister in infancy.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday April 15, 2016 at 2 pm from Sacred Heart Cathedral, Bathurst.
Donations in memory of François may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a favorite charity.
