It is with deep sadness that we the family announce the passing of our beloved mother, Rose Marie Frenette of South Bathurst which occurred Thursday morning, October 6th, 2016 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital after a lengthily illness.

The daughter of the late Lewis and Margaret (Melanson) Roy, Rose Marie was born in Bathurst in 1932. She married Leo J. Frenette in 1952 who predeceased her in 2008. She worked as a clerk at Kent’s Department store for a number of years, and later from her home as a hairdresser. She was an avid gardener, a talented seamstress, an excellent cook and exceptional wife and mother. For over 25 years, she was a devoted member of the Little Flower Council Catholic Women’s League of St. Theresa’s Parish which later amalgamated with the Sacred Heart Parish.

She is survived by her daughter Catherine of Miramichi, her son Peter Michael and her daughter-in-law, Alanna Breckenridge of Miramichi, her only brother, Peter Roy (Patricia Gagnon) of Bathurst, three loving sisters, Marjorie Doucet (Gordon) of Bathurst, Barbara Aube (Ralph) of Beresford, Ann Hewlyn (Hiram) of Cormack, NF, along with her many cherished nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Carmelita Peters (Eric), Henrietta Allcott (Gerald).

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Finn and the oncology staff at the George Dumont Hospital in Moncton, as well as the palliative care physicians and staff at Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst for their excellent care of our mother throughout her illness.

Funeral arrangements are in the trusted care of the personnel at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com). In honour of Rose Marie’s wishes, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. A memorial mass will be held at the Sacred Heart Cathedral on Wednesday, October 12th at 2:00 P.M. Music at the funeral will be performed by Miramichi organist and vocalist, Jacqueline Irving Allan. A reception will follow in the basement of the church.  In memory of Rose Marie, donations to the Cancer Research Society, the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society, and to other local charities would be appreciated by the family.
