Mrs. Anita MacKenzie, 86, of Big River, wife of the late Warren MacKenzie, passed away peacefully on Sunday October 9, 2016, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Azilda (Duguay) Roy.
Anita was well known for her sense of humour and her great cooking. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and homemaker. Her neighbours called her a "gem".
Anita is survived by five children:
Sharon Gillis (David) of Salmon Beach,
Douglas MacKenzie (Monique) of Kingston, ON,
Ann Querry (Serge) of Terrace Bay, ON,
Randy MacKenzie (Carol) of Fort MacMurray, AB and
John MacKenzie (Helga) of Terrace Bay, ON.
Fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, who will miss her dearly.
Her two surviving sisters are:
Ann Godin (Robert) of Bathurst and
Lillian Roy (Barry Hamilton) of Manitoulin Island, ON.
Also by several nieces and nephews and also by a special sister in law, Adeline Furlotte.
She was predeceased by four brothers: Robert, Gerard, Charles and Richard Jr and three sisters: Leona Poulin, Winnifred Morton and Julie Deroche and a grandson, Jack Gillis.
There will be no visitations at the Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday October 13, 2016 at 11 a.m. from Saint George's Anglican Church, King Ave, Bathurst.
Donation in memory of Anita may be made to the Saint George’s Anglican Church or a charity of the donors choice.
