Bathurst- Mrs. Joan Pettigrew, wife of Tommy Pettigrew, of Vincent St., Bathurst passed away at the age of 71, on Friday March 31, 2017 at the ChaleurRegionalHospital surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Melvina (Landry) McArdle. She worked for many years as the Religious Education Coordinator for the Diocese of Bathurst.

Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Jodie Aubé (René) and one son, Todd (Sheri) both of Bathurst; three granddaughters: Brittany, Courtney and Brooke and one great-grandson, Liam; seven Sister: Paula Riordon of Wellington Ontario, Nancy Martinez (Jorge) of Mexico, Elaine McArdle (Steve Kelland) of Ottawa Ontario, Lilian Boucher (Blair), Barb Sweet (Charles), Marina Dobson (Kenny), Charlene Thibideau all of Bathurst; a special aunt, Jeannette "Aunt Net" Theriault of Bathurst and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by a son, Charles and two sisters: Janet and Mary.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday April 4, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday April 5, 2017 at 2 p.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew St.  Donations in memory of Joan may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.
