It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of our father Gordon Luce who passed away suddenly on July 20, 2017 at the age of 93. Born in Bathurst he was the son of the late Frank and Josephine (Vienneau) Luce.
Gordon was a veteran of World War II serving in Canada, The United Kingdom, Central Mediterranean Area and Continental Europe as a member of the West Nova Scotia Regiment. He was a member of The Herman J. Good, V.C. Br. 18, Royal Canadian Legion, Bathurst.
Upon his return from service, Gordon worked as a carpenter throughout the province and later returned to Bathurst to raise his family. He is survived by five children, Eileen (Don) Sealy, Frank, Ann Marie (Gerald) Daley, Shirley (Bob) Cowie and John (Monique), 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren and his brother Clarence. He was also survived by his very special friend May Branch and his extended Branch family. He was predeceased by his wife Agnes (Robbins) and children Clifford, Joan and Rodney, brother Earl and sisters Unice, Muriel, Isabelle and Doris.
Gordon was a talented carpenter who believed in hard work and staying active. He loved the outdoors and always kept busy with household chores such as mowing the lawn, tending to his garden and tinkering in his shed. He enjoyed playing cards with various card clubs and was also known as a good dancer. He enjoyed family gatherings with his family and extended family. He will be sadly missed.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from Elhatton`s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday morning July 25, 2017 at 11 a.m. from HolyFamilyChurch, St. Peter Ave., Bathurst. Donations in memory of Gordon may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
