Laura "Louise" Daley

  • Laura "Louise" Daley 1921-2017

  •  Date of Death: August 07, 2017
  •  Location: Bathurst

It is with heartfelt sadness that we, her family, announce the passing of Laura "Louise" Daley on August 7th 2017, at the age of 96. Louise peacefully passed away at the palliative care unit of Chaleur Regional Hospital, surrounded by her three children and family members. She was the daughter of the late Herbert and Lillian (Buttimer) Ellis. She was predeceased by her husband Sherman in 1980, her brother Eddy Ellis in 1996, and infant brother Newton in 1912.

Throughout her life, this dedicated member of Central United Church (known as "Gram" to most) proved that she was a lady of many talents. For much of her life she lived on a farm, and never shirked the many and varied responsibilities that came with it. In her middle years, she also loved to garden and put up preserves of many kinds. Her true passion was baking, and in her senior years her family, neighbours and church were the benefactors of those tasty creations.

Above all Gram was devoted to her family and dearly loved it when any of them, especially her grandchildren (and later the great grandchildren) showed up on her doorstep…….an opportunity to spoil them.

She is survived by and leaves to mourn her children: son Leonard (Muriel) Daley, daughter Shirley Dempsey (Ron Babin), and son Lloyd (Myrna) Daley; her grandchildren Tammy (Patrick) Ellis, Cory (Julie) Daley, Tandi Dempsey (Randy Ellis), and Brittany Daley; her great grandchildren Christina Louise and Connor Ellis, Kaitlyn Daley, Shay and Finn Ellis, brother-in-law Oscar Daley, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Louise’s family wish to express their sincere gratitude to the employees of Doucet Foyer (Chamberlain Settlement) and Southern Comfort (Bathurst) for the care and compassion she was given during her stay in recent years. And a special "thank you" to the Palliative Care Unit of the ChaleurRegionalHospital.

There will be no visitations at the Funeral Home.  Funeral Service will be held on Saturday morning (August 12, 2017) at 10 a.m. from Central United Church, Clifton.  Donations in memory of Louise may be made to the Central United Church or a favorite charity.  Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
