Vera, or Verla as she was lovingly called by the family, is survived by four of her children, Gail (Michael White) of Bathurst, Larry and John both of Bathurst, and Carol (Cees Artz) of Ottawa. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kevin, Heather, Jordan White, Kasey, Shannon, Carmen, Evan and Veronica Hussey, Simon and Mitchell Artz as well as 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Kenneth Hachey (Therese) of Bathurst and a very dear friend Barbara.

 Besides her husband she was predeceased by her son, Kevin Andrew, two brothers: Guy and Louis and two sisters: Gloria and Joyce.

Vera worked as a bookkeeper for the Bathurst Labour Union, the Bathurst Curling Club, and the Main Brace Naval Veterans Association for most of her working years.

She spent her final year of her life at the Foyer Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes where she was very active and enjoyed all of the activities and interactions.  The family would like to say a special thanks to the staff of Aisle C and activities director Marguerite for the care and compassion shown towards Vera. 

The family will receive relatives and friends at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com) on Sunday  from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral mass for Vera will be celebrated on Monday October 9, 2017 at 4:00PM at Holy Family Church. Donations in memory of Vera may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation, the Bathurst Area School Milk Fund or another favorite charity.
