Bathurst - We the family, said goodbye to our beloved matriarch Mrs. Georgina "Hurka-Granny" Comeau, wife of the late Arnold Keith Comeau, of Landry Lane, Bathurst, who died Monday, December 11th, 2017, at her residence, after a brief battle with cancer.
Born in Tracadie, she was the daughter of the late Léandre and Marie (St-Pierre) Brideau.
She is survived by her three children: Colette Comeau of Welland, ON, Catherine Comeau of Bathurst and Karen Comeau of Moncton. Five grandchildren: Jessica, Mélanie, twins Joé & Jérémie and Ethan.
Seven sisters: Eugenie MacAulay of Campbellton, Anita Roy of Petit-Rocher, Marie Hodgins (Bert) of Berby, ON, Léontine Brideau of Kincardine, ON, Émerentienne Duguay (David) of Allardville, Andréa Parents (Guy) of Fredericton and Aurèlie
Mercier (Marc) of Tremblay. Four brothers: her twin, George Brideau (Christianne) of Bathurst, Joseph Brideau (Francoise Mercier) of St-Fabien, QC, Léon Brideau (Colette de Bellefeuille) of Montreal and André Brideau (Gail Imhoff) of Beresford. Several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was pre-deceased by a son, Keith (twin to Catherine, in 2008) and a sister, Irma.
Our lives will be forever touched by this exceptional beautiful stoic woman. Her soft demeanor with her amorous attentive eyes, paired with her deep warm caress will everlastingly be imprinted in our hearts and minds.
Our mémère was the king of women who inspired a young teenager to write a speech about her "Hero" titled "My Mémère".
Her thirst for knowledge coupled with her love of books was without a doubt the corner stone of her being. She was truly a treasure who generously shared her love with all the neighborhood kids wherever she lived. She taught us the true meaning of hard work, compassion, respect for others, selflessness and unconditional love.
"Our parents give us life; our grandparents give us sense of who we are and where we come from".
There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday December 16, 2017, at 2 p.m. from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness, Ste Anne St., Bathurst. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
