It is with deep sadness that the family of Jean "Marc" Valcourt, 60, of South Tetagouche, announce his passing, which occurred at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst on Friday, December 22, 2017, after a courageous fight with cancer.
Born in Sudbury, ON, he was the son of Corinne (Bernard) Valcourt and the late Clement R. Valcourt.
He enlisted in the army at a young age and was awarded "Most Improved Recruit". He continued as military police and later worked in security in the private sector. Much of his adult life was spent employed in the mining industry in various locations in Canada and around the world.
Marc was a loving father and very much a family man. He enjoyed cooking and tinkering with vehicles. He had a "joie de vivre" which he generously shared with his loved ones and family.
Besides his mother Corinne of South Tetagouche, he will be sadly missed by his children, Tara, Roger and Natacha.
Marc is also survived by his loving siblings: Anita Levesque (Leo), Jeannine Smith (Roland), Dolores Lavigne (Alphonse), Pierre Valcourt (Dolores Pitre), Louise Valcourt (Kevin Tremblay) Cheryl Roy (Levi), Michel Valcourt (Christie Whynot), Six grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and a brother in law Clayton Ward.
He was predeceased by his sister Carol Ward.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday December 27, 2017 at 11 a.m. from Elhatton Funeral Home Chapel. Donations in memory of Jean Marc may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
