It is with sadness that the family announce the passing of Duncan E. Eddy of Clifton, husband of Mildred (Knowles) Eddy which occurred at the Chaleur Regional Hospital on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at the age of 81.
Born in Clifton, he was the son of the late Harry and Carrie (Wiseman) Eddy.
Since boyhood, Duncan owned and loved horses, which he raised on the family homestead and enjoyed horse hauling matches. He was a talented poet writer and reciter and loved to dance and sing, was a lifetime member of Central United Church in Clifton and loved to travel. He was retired from Brunswick Mines in 1992.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family and besides his wife, he is survived by four children: Harry of Janeville, Joseph (Doreen McGrath) of Canobie, Janeth Ernst (James) of Austin, TX, USA and Rosann Eddy of Canobie South.
Three grandchildren: Alyssa, Austin and Kelly.
Several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two children: Louanne Rae, Patrick; five brothers: Wesley, Thomas, Wayne, Kenneth and William (in infancy) and four sisters: Gertrude, Jean, Bessie and Susan.
Visitation will be held after 2 p.m. Thursday at Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), St. George St, Bathurst. Funeral service will be held on Friday June 29, 2018, at 2 p.m. from Central United Church, Clifton. Visiting hours are Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Donations in memory of Duncan may be made to the Central United Memorial Fund or a favorite charity.
