It is with great sadness that we, the family, wish to announce the passing of Germaine (Breau) Ross which occurred on Sunday, July 29 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital at the age of 84.
Born in Néguac, she was the daughter of the late Frédéric Breau and the late Yvonne Richard.
She is survived by two sons: Eric (Tess) of Trenton, ON and Earl (Mary) of London, ON.
Four grandchildren: Andrew, Dalton, Alicia, Amanda and a great granddaughter, Elsie.
She also leaves to mourn, Three sisters: Thérèse (Armand Maillet) of Néguac, Apolline Breau, RHSJ of Bathurst, Gloria (late Danny MacEachern) of Néguac.
Three brothers: François (Evelyne Gratton), Camille (Monique Dancause) both of Néguac and Laurie (late Emma-Jean Kenny) of Bathurst. Many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Harold Ross; a son Norman, an infant brother, Vincent-Laurie and infant sister, Rose-Marie.
After teacher’s college, Germaine started the career in her own home town as the principle of a four room school at the age of 17. She married an Airman in 1954 and traveled to Germany where her eldest son was born, then to Trenton, ON for a second son and off to Moosejaw, SK for a third. Returning to Trenton, she continued on as a teacher and then transferred to the Bathurst area in 1969 so that she could be closer to her Acadian home and heritage. Retirement in 1993 allowed her to perform the activities she so dearly loved; visiting family, volunteering, skiing, playing bridge and traveling to the many parts of the world that so intrigued her. Germaine had a brilliant mind for math, memorization, names and places, along with a passion for family, friends and teaching children. All students adored her, friends cherished her and every family member dearly loved her, but cancer got her (twice) and took her away. However, God now has her, and she is in a wonderful place where she has prayed so hard to be. Her trail of love and devotion will live on, through us who knew her.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 10 a.m. from Our Lady of the Rosary Church, St. Peter Ave.
In Memory of Germaine, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
