Eveline (Comeau) Bongers of Residence Vienneau, formerly of Alexander Drive, passed away at the Chaleur Regional Hospital on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at the age of 91. Born in Pointe Verte she was the daughter of the late Celina Fournier and Thomas Comeau; wife of the late Wilhemus (Bill) Bongers.
She will be sadly missed by her special niece, Louise Wafer, and grandnephew Tim. She is survived by one sister Augustine (late George) Lagacé and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and her husband Bill, she was predeceased by 6 brothers Leopold, Lucien, Phillippe (late Régina), Edouard (late Jeanne); Claude (late Juliette) and André (Juliette); and 3 sisters Honorine Comeau, Isabelle (late Gérard) Cloutier and Claire (late Ludger) Roy.
She moved to Montreal at a young age and worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone for 40 years. Once retired, she and her husband Bill came to live in Bathurst.
To know her was to love her. She was a very kind, soft person, heart of gold who had a tremendous sense of humour. Her favorite greeting was: "What’s new?", that was over the telephone or even if you saw her several times in one day. Most often it was: "What’s new, good looking?".
According to her wishes, there will be no visitation, nor service. Interment will be held at a later date in her native village of Pointe Verte.
Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Donations in memory of Eveline may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
