It is with profound sadness that the family of Evelyn Doucet, wife of Robert Doucet, of Bathurst, announce her passing peacefully surrounded by family which occurred on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital at the age of 79.
Born in Bathurst, NB, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Grace (MacKay) Cormier.
Evelyn was employed for several years as a waitress at Danny’s Restaurant and was later the Manager at the Snack Bar in the Dominion/Village Food Store, Bathurst. She will be remembered for her love of people and for her great sense of humor. Evelyn was intensely proud of her 6 children, 12 grandchildren and her 6 great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Lavigne (Paul) of Bathurst; three sons: Bobby (Sandra) of Bathurst, Jeffrey (Christine) and Mark (Andrea) both of Calgary.
Her brother, Jim (Linda Ferguson) of Bathurst: two sisters: Peggy Roy and Arline Hachey both of Bathurst.
Evelyn was a loving grandmother to her 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed and forever remembered by her husband of 61 years, Robert.
Besides her parents, Evelyn was predeceased by two sons: Douglas and Gary and a brother, David.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral service will be celebrated on Monday morning, October 29, 2018 at 11 a.m. from Elhatton Funeral Chapel (www.elhatton.com). Donations in memory of Evelyn may be made to the Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of 4th East and Palliative Care Unit at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.
