Rufus Smith, beloved husband of the late Pauline (Lavigne) Smith, of Garden St. Bathurst, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday November 7, 2018 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst at the age of 86.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Fred and Gladys (Parks) Smyth.
Rufus was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Dad will be lovingly remembered by his five children: Susan McKinnon (Peter) and Wayne Smith (Shawn) both of Bathurst, Karen Dupuis (Guy) and Marilyn Smith both of Moncton and Donald Smith (Dorothy Elzinga) of Edmonton, Alb.
Eleven grandchildren: Shelley, Michael, Jennifer, Krista, Holly, Otis, Evan, Derek, Kelsey, Scott, Dylan and twelve great-grandchildren.
Several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife Pauline, he was predeceased by a brother, Odis Smyth and a sister ,Violet Smyth.
There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 13th, 2018 at 11 a.m. from Saint-George's Anglican Church, King Ave., Bathurst.
Donations in memory of Rufus may be made to the St. George's Anglican Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
