Manford Sealy died peacefully at the Chaleur Regional Hospital on January 2, 2020 with family at his side. Born in Canobie, he was the son of the late Anna (Ellis) and Oscar Sealy.
Lovingly, remembered by his wife Shirley (nee Dempsey); sons: Harley (Lori) and Hadley (Sylvie), his 3 granddaughters of whom he was very proud, Shaelyn Clark, Emma and Gabrielle Sealy. Also survived by sisters Myrna (Herman) Hebert and Ada (late Curt) Damignani of Sault Ste. Marie, ON as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides being predeceased by his parents, he was predeceased by his stepfather William Johnson, brother Fred (late Dorothy), sisters Fern (late Ernest) Vienneau and Edwina Arnold.
He was a highly skilled machinist at Northern Machine Works/SMI. No job with metal was too intricate or too large, including a 36’ portable sawmill for his use. He was a lobster fisherman for 45 years and built his last fishing boat. He had a love of most sports including hockey, golf and softball, having played at an early age and continuing as a pitcher and home run hitter until age became a factor.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, January 4, 2020 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 5th, 2020 at 2 p.m. from the First United Church.
Donations in memory of Manford may be made to the First United Church, the Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
