Mrs. Winifred “Winnie” (Fitzpatrick) Gallant, of Murray Ave., Bathurst, wife of the late Clayton Gallant, passed away Saturday, February 22nd, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital at the age of 80.
Born in Dalhousie, she was the daughter of the late Wallace and Robertine (Coulombe) Fitzpatrick.
She is survived by one daughter, Kelly Gallant of Halifax. Nieces and nephews including: Brian, Danny, Susan, Boyce, and Tim. Great-nieces and great-nephews: Emma, Abby, Nicklaus, Ashley, Kyle, Michael, Coralee, Ara and Thomas.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was predeceased by her two brothers: Boyce and Jimmy, and her niece Colleen.
Winnie graduated from the Sacred Heart Cathedral Academy in 1957 and became an R.N. at the Hotel Dieu in Campbellton in 1960. She worked in Ontario and Hotel Dieu in Bathurst and the Bathurst Mental Health. She retired in 1994.
Winnie cherished her family, held her many friends close to her heart and she was fiercely proud of her Irish heritage. She loved to skate, bake, walk and read. She was an avid fan of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan and Montreal Canadiens. She was a member of the Retired Nurses Association, member of the Senior Choir and a hospital volunteer with the Caring Heart Program.

Donations in memory of Winnie can be made into the charity of the donors' choice.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 27th, 2020 at 2 p.m. at the Elhatton Funeral Home Chapel (www.elhatton.com).
