Beresford – Mrs. Évangeline Lavigne, 88, wife of the late Paul Lavigne, of Dunlop and formerly of Bathurst, passed away on Tuesday February 25, 2020 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.
Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late James and Marguerite (Roy) Doucet.
She is survived by eleven children: Jean Marie Lavigne (Roseline) of Sormany, Emanuel Lavigne (Laurie Coleman) of Calgary, AB, Robert Lavigne of Fredericton, Gérard Lavigne (Rachelle) and Claudette Lavigne (Eddy Chamberlain) both of Bathurst, Louise McAleer and Angéla Boudreau both of Dunlop, Diane Legacy (Robert) of Fredericton, Pierrette Nasson (John) and Monique Lavigne (Dave Rhodenizer) both of Halifax and Pauline Haché (Jean-Guy Grant) of Beresford.
27 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Five brothers: Auguste Doucet (Mariette) of Halifax, Gordon Doucet of Scarborough, ON, Albéni Doucet (Eva), Jean Guy Doucet (Jeannette) and Gerald Doucet (Chantal) all of Bathurst. Seven sisters: Bernadette Arseneau (Bill) of Dunlop, Alina Boulet of Montréal, QC, Sylvia Doucet of Winnipeg, MB, Rosella Lavigne (Tom) of Bathurst, Anne Marie Doucet of Kingston, NS, Gabrielle Doiron of Laval, QC and Lisa Imoff of Beresford.
Several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was pre-deceased by a son, René and her brothers and sisters: Emmanuel, Romé, Omer, Lorette and Ella.
The family would like to thank the in home caregivers, doctors, 4th floor West and the Palliative Care Unit of the Chaleur Regional Hospital, to Father Robert Léger and Yvonne Boudreau Giachino for bringing communion to her house and a special thank you to her daughter, Louise for looking after her in her home.
The family will receive relatives and friends after 2 p.m. Sunday at Héritage Funeral Home (www.mfheritage.com), Beresford. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday March 2, 2020 at 4 p.m. from Holy Name of Jesus Church, Beresford. Visiting hours are Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and Monday from 2 p.m. until time of Funeral. Donations in memory of Évangeline may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
