It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Rhéal Doucet which occurred on Friday, May 8, 2020 at the age of 100 years and 6 months. He was the husband of the late Mildred (Morrison) Doucet.
Born in Petit-Rocher, he was the son of the late Francis and Béatrice (Roy) Doucet.
Rhéal worked for most of his life as the owner of the very first garage established in Petit-Rocher and later as foreman at SMI in Bathurst.
Rhéal was a Veteran of the Second World War having served with the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was a simple man, always willing to help those around him. He was very much loved by his family and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
He is survived by his five children: Anita Doucet (Raymond), Jeannine Hatheway (Michael), Fernande Mills (late Robert), Suzanne Guitard (Rhéal Godin) and Paul Doucet.
Grandfather to Cynthia LeBlanc (Charles), Vincent Guitard (Roger Vienneau), Denise Guitard, Renée Doiron (Paul Sébastien). Great-grandfather to Sara, Alex, Émélie, Cédric and his extended family: Kendra, Keitha and Willow Hatheway.
Two sisters: Carmel Doucet and Hélène Deluca.
Many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers: Léonard, Gabriel, Fernand, Ernest, Edgar, Marius and one sister, Frédonia.
The family would like to thank Dr. Cauchon and Marcella Hinton and all her angels at the Manoir Bienveillance for the love and care given to Dad. We will forever be thankful.
Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. A private funeral service with only immediate family will take place.
