Arnolda Young-Comeau - With great sadness, our family announces our mother’s passing at Chaleur Regional Hospital in her 83rd year after a hard fought six-year battle with leukemia.
Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Evelyne (Boudreau) Young.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Victor “Vic” Comeau in 2009, and is lovingly remembered by her children, Monique (the late Ray Wilson), Colette (Frank Edgar) and Annette (Ian MacMillan).
Beloved and cherished grandmother to Ryan Kennedy (Claire Hargrove), Trevor Kennedy (Yoshimi Nakaya-Kennedy), Brendan Kennedy (Winter Wilson), Kurt Witzell, Kimberley Ann Brideau (David) and Connor MacMillan. She also lived long enough to welcome a precious great-granddaughter, Hana Nakaya Kennedy. Arnolda was the 4th of ten children born to Leo and Evelyne (Boudreau) Young of Bathurst, NB.
She leaves behind three sisters, Pauline (Don) Buttimer, Rose (Lorenzo) Landry and Lynda (Norbert) Frenette, all of Bathurst, and one brother, Jean-Paul (Simonne) Young of New Richmond, QC.
She was predeceased by four brothers, Peter, Norman, Joey and Claude, and her sister, Anita.
Inside the occasionally delicate exterior was a great strength, a spirited soul and a generous heart. While she had an idyllic childhood, our mother wasn't always dealt the best hand in her adult years; but that didn't stop her - she was an eternal optimist and through a unique combination of faith, hard work, integrity, kindness, humour and love for family, she continuously picked herself up and mastered the art of self-renewal. With each challenge life threw at her, she managed to overcome and endure. The world has lost a wonderful woman and mother.
The family is very thankful to oncologist Dr Nicolas Finn for giving her family and friends time for a longer goodbye. They also wish to thank the staff of the Prestige Residence for making her final months as comfortable and peaceful as possible.
Arrangements are entrusted in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst, NB. The family will receive relatives and friends at Elhatton’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 from 7pm to 9pm.
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the funeral service to take place at the Sacred Heart Cathedral on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 will be held by invitation only.
In memory of our mother, please consider a donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC) to help find new therapies to treat and cure blood cancers. Donations to other causes are also welcomed and appreciated.
