Bathurst – Father Lévis Arseneau passed away Tuesday March 22, 2022 at the Manoir Brise de l’Oasis in Bathurst at the age of 89.

Born in Inkerman Ferry, he was the son of the late Joseph Arseneau and Monique Robichaud.

He is survived by his twin sister, Françoise Arseneau of Lévis, QC, his brother, Léandre Arseneau (Thérèse Paquet) of Carleton, QC; two nephews: André of Moncton and Pierre of Gatineau, QC and three nieces: Claudine of Bathurst, Monique of Montréal, QC and Julie of Maria, QC and one cousin, Lorenzo Arseneau of Inkerman.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters: Félicien, Jean-Baptiste, Fr. Adélard, Alexandre, Sr. Marie-Jeanne, Sr. Irène and Sr. Thérèse of the Jésus-Marie religious congregation.

Following his time as Vicar in many parishes between 1958 and 1969, Fr. Lévis enrolled in Pastoral Theology at Laval University in Quebec in 1972. Between 1973 and 2003, he served as Priest in several parishes. He assumed many roles within the Diocese of Bathurst as well as Chaplain for many organizations. Fr. Lévis retired August 1, 2003 after 45 years of ministry.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), 187 St. George St., Bathurst where visiting will take place on Sunday March 27, 2022 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Masks are required to attend the visitation at the funeral home. Viewing will take place Monday March 28th, 2022 at Holy Rosary Church from 9 a.m. until time of funeral at 11 a.m.

The funeral will be president by Msgr. Daniel Jodoin, Bishop of the Diocese of Bathurst, accompanied by many priests.
