After a lengthy illness, Lenora Panko, wife of the late Nick Panko, formerly of St. Andrew St., passed away peacefully at the Chaleur Regional Hospital on October 19th, 2022 at the age of 84.
Born in Beresford, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred Doucet and Elizabeth Lagacé.
She is survived by her daughter Paula (Darren) Panko-Fogan, one brother Allain (Lucienne) Doucet, and one sister-in-law Anne-Lise (Zweilin) Doucet. She will also be sadly missed by all her nieces and nephews, whom she was greatly fond of.
Besides her parents, Lenora was pre-deceased by her brothers: Venance, Roméo, Léo, Raoul, Edmond, Paul, and her sisters: Cécile, Blondine, Dora, Yvonne, Kathleen, Patricia, Rita.
Lenora was a wonderful mother, wife, and friend who always put the needs of others before hers. She was always giving of her time, and herself to others. She was actively involved in the Sacred Heart Cathedral CWL until health issues restricted her ability to participate in functions.
Despite her many health issues, Lenora carried on with great strength and resolve.
The family would like to thank Dr. JP Arseneau for the care and compassion he provided to Lenora over the years. Also, they are appreciative of the care from Dr. Hickey, Dr. Robichaud and the nurses in the dialysis unit in Bathurst. Without your kindness, and caring nature, Lenora would not have endured dialysis for as long as she did.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 25th, 2022, at 2 pm from the Elhatton Funeral Home Chapel (www.elhatton.com).
Since she loved animals, any donations made in the memory of Lenora to the Bathurst Animal Shelter (or a charity of choice) would be appreciated.
