It is with profound sadness that we the family announce the passing of Mildred Marion Hatheway, 84, beloved wife of Hayden Wilmot Hatheway which occurred on Wednesday, November 9th, 2022 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst, NB.
Born in Bathurst, NB, she was the daughter of the late H.H. (Bud) Williamson and the late Alice (Brown) Williamson.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years Hayden, her three sons - Jim (Katherine) of
Amherst, NS; David (Nicole) and Ian (Helene) both of Bathurst, NB; grandchildren, Savannah, Kevin, Liam, Erika and Lauren; her brother Harry H. Williamson (Joan) of Bathurst, NB; sister-in-law Ann Fulton, Greenville, South Carolina; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mildred graduated from Edgehill School for girls in 1956 and after completing a commercial course at Sacred Heart Academy in Bathurst she was employed by Traders Finance. Following the arrival of their first child, she turned her attention to raising her family and supporting Hayden in their family automobile business. She was active in her community and enjoyed participating in many organizations such as Jaycettes, IODE, and the Red Cross. At First United Church she served as an Explorer Leader, Sunday School Teacher, and Unit President when the United Church Women (UCW) was first formed. She was a member of the Bathurst Curling Club and the Gowan Brae Golf and Country Club.
Most of all Mildred enjoyed her time with family and friends - especially at Youghall Beach where she and Hayden have lived permanently since 1997 when they build their retirement home. Her life revolved around her husband, children and grandchildren and she never missed making a birthday call or recognizing any of the other special occasions and she made sure there was a picture taken at the time - with or without everyone's blessing. Tetagouche lake and Nictau were other favourite places to gather and enjoy special times. She shared most of life's good and bad times with the special friends that made up a group nicknamed the "Dirty Dozen".
The family wishes to thank the Doctors and Nurses of the Chaleur Regional hospital for their tremendous care for Mildred especially the 2nd floor staff and palliative care unit.
