Lorraine Burbridge (nee Aubé) the grand love of Ronald Burbridge for 54 years, sister in a large family and aunt to many treasured nephews and nieces, passed on to heaven on November 14th, 2022. She was born in Beresford in 1945 and lived until age 77 when a heart attack and operation took her away from us too soon on November 14. She requested to be cremated. A church service to honour her memory will be held at St. Nom de Jesus in Beresford at 2 PM on Thursday, December 1, 2022. All who knew Lorraine and want to pay their respects are invited to attend.
Lorraine’s mother Dorisse Pitre first married Jean Roy and Lorraine was fortunate to have 5 half-siblings: Raymond, Rita, Nazaire, Alphonse (all deceased) and Emelda Lapointe.
When Jean Roy passed, Dorisse then married Laurence Aube. Lorraine was their first-born daughter. Her seven siblings who followed include: Victor Aube (deceased), Vickie Rideout, Ernestine Hachey, Albert Aube, Roland Aube (deceased), Imelda Loimond and Jeannice Bowes.
Lorraine and Ron lived an intense and fun life full of adventure, energy, goodwill and joy. Lorraine loved to share quotes and updates on travels and outings as an inspiration to others. She loved baking and cooking and making delightful meals. Lorraine was very fastidious in her dress and enjoyed dressing up and looking exceptional. She was forever, 100% true to herself and her beliefs and values. Both she and Ron loved music and went to see and party down with over 4,000 live bands in clubs and concerts. They also enjoyed riding motorcycles and driving their classic cars.
Ron and Lorraine retired from Toronto back to Beresford beach in 2006 where they had a beautiful log home built by Dale Boucher, Danny Couture and Denis Guerette on land they had bought back in 1979. Ron named the cabin “Acadienne Cool” in honour of his ‘joie de vivre’ wife who had her own remarkably cool ways!
Lorraine wanted to have a website built, as an eventual legacy, to share with people. The design was just completed a month ago. It contains fifteen of Lorraine and Ron’s travelling adventures in North America and Europe. It also introduces her Autobiography: A Flare of Willpower, which focusses on her early years growing up in Beresford. All of these were personally written by Lorraine and are now available on your personal computer at htttps://lorrquest.ca or on your mobile devices with a search for lorrquest.ca. Lorraine was very excited about having people visit her website. Ron hopes you will visit it to see additional photos of Lorraine. He regards the website now as a tribute to the precious love of his life, full of zest and a beautiful spirit.
All of Lorraine and Ron’s families, friends and acquaintances will mourn this loss but celebrate Lorraine’s special soul going to a heavenly place where ‘happiness is in front of you’!
Arrangements are in the care of Heritage Funeral Home (www.mfheritage.com), Beresford.
Donations in memory of Lorraine may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
