Sainte-Anne, Glou. Co., NB – It is with great sadness that we the family, announce the death of dear beloved mother, Mrs. Alfreda Doucet, wife of the late John Doucet, of Sainte-Anne, Glou. Co., which occurred Monday, February 6, 2023, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, at the age of 96.
Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Adèle (Legacy) Simoneau.
She is survived by her children: Roger (Agatha), Ronald (Annette), Frédérick (Alice), John (Bertha), Thérèse Doucet (Michael Knowles) and Jeannine Raiche (Alyre) all of Sainte-Anne, Co. Glou., Hector de Petit-Rocher and Joanne Doucet-Barna (Dave) of Fredericton.
16 grandchildren, many great-grand-children and several great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was pre-deceased by an infant son, Roger.
Maman adored her family, her church, Notre Dame-du-Rosaire and her Christian community. Her absence will be greatly felt by her family and friends.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Foyer Chez Annie, Bathurst, for the excellent care given to Alfreda.
The family will receive relatives and friends after 7 p.m. Thursday at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday afternoon February 10, 2023, at 2 p.m. from Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Bathurst. Visiting hours are Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and noon Friday util time of funeral.
Donations in memory of Alfreda can be made to Our Lady of the Rosary Church (Église Notre-Dame-du-Rosaire) or a charity of the donor’s choice.
