Bathurst - It is with great sadness that we the family, announce the passing of George Boudreau, of Picot Ave., Bathurst, who left us at the age of 88 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital Palliative Care unit on Monday July 24th, 2023.
Loving husband of 66 years to Marie-Anne (Comeau) Boudreau, son of the late Gladys (Brideau) and Herby Boudreau.
Proud father of Paul (Pierre), Gerald (Lucie), Steven, Joanne, and Linda.
He also leaves behind his siblings, Benoit (Theresa), Donat, Adrien (Anne), Edgar (Rolande), Leonard (Glenna), Ernest (Lisa), and Omer (Fern).
George will also be sadly missed by his granddaughters: Melissa (Kevin), Sarah (Michael) and Brittany. Great-grandchildren Allie, Makayla (Austin), Charlotte, Tate and great-great-granddaughter Leigha.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his siblings Jeanette (late George), Aurèle (Susan), and John (Marguerite).
George worked at St Isidore Asphalte Ltée and at the Nepisiguit falls Power Plant for many years. He was a school bus driver for his children and community. When he wasn’t working he was attending to his animals and taking care of his family.
George always had a great sense of humour, you couldn’t help but laugh while in his presence. He was a very kind and welcoming man, who’s door was always open to his friends and the community.
He was very passionate for his horses and loved spending time going into the woods where he would build a fire and have his cup of tea. Every Christmas he would bring the community for sleigh rides. And it would be rare to not see George playing his guitar and singing country music with his brothers and kids.
Later in life George attended to his garden, made sure to feed the birds everyday, watch his hockey games - hoping the Montreal Canadians would win -, and spent time with his children and grandchildren.
We want to thank doctors Babineau and Theriault as well as the Palliative Care Unit staff, including nurses Donna, Doreen, Wanda, and Zack, for the attentive and compassionate care given to George and the support provided to the family. And we want to thank Father Wade and Father Léger for their spiritual support and care. We will forever be grateful.
There will be no visitations at the Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday August 1, 2023, at 11 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Bathurst. Donations in memory of George can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donors choice. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
