Bathurst, NB – It is with great sadness that we, the family of Eric Lavigne, of Bathurst, announce his passing which occurred on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at the Villa Sormany in Robertville, at the age of 72.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Frank and Marion (Boucher) Lavigne.
He is survived by his daughter, Monique Lavigne (Denis Legacy) of Bathurst; his son, Luc Lavigne (Rebecca) of North Tetagouche.
Five grandchildren: Megan, Mason, Anabelle, Lexie-Anne and Élie-Rose.
Two brothers: Jean-Marc Lavigne (Marie-Rose) of Rough Waters, Marcel Lavigne (Nancy) of Chamberlain Settlement; two sisters: Cécile Savoie (Aristide) of Tracadie and Annette Breau (Peter) of Shediac; a sister-in-law: Theresa Lavigne.
Many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by three brothers, Gilles, Donald and Robert.
Eric was a heavy equipment mechanic by trade, he spent his final years at the Villa Sormany due to a long illness with Multiple Sclerosis. In spite of the challenges he faced as a result, he maintained an unwavering faith and positive attitude. He always had a kind word or smile for anyone who crossed his path. His children and grandchildren were a great source of pride, and he cherished his family greatly. Eric will be missed by everyone whose lives he touched.
The family would like to thank staff of Villa Sormany nursing home for the many years of care he received there.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday January 18th, 11 am at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Bathurst. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
Donations in memory of Eric may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada or to a favorite charity.
