Bathurst - With celebration of a life well lived, we the family announce the passing of Roger Aubé, 92, of Bathurst, which occurred on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.

Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Hilarion “Larry” and Caroline (Comeau) Aubé.

Roger retired from the City of Bathurst after 23 years as General Foreman of Public Works. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus (3rd Degree) Council 1935. Past President of the Bathurst Liberal Association, a former member of the Holy Family Parish Council. Previously a Bathurst Volunteer Fireman, First President of the Bathurst Hospitality Days Festival (1972) and he was also involved with Minor Hockey as a coach for 15 years.

Roger was known for his sense of humor “Joie de vivre”. He could often be seen enjoying a coffee with his friends and teasing the girls at Tim Hortons. He also took great pride and joy from his time spent with his loving family. He often said he was three things in life: a Catholic, a Liberal and a Montreal Canadians fan. So hopefully in some other dimension Roger is sitting up in heaven with his liberal friends looking down at the Bell Centre watching the Montreal Canadians hoisting the Stanley Cup for the 25th time. GO HABS GO!!

He is survived by his wife, Hilda (Godin) Aubé.

His children: Sandra Lavigne of Bathurst, Linda (Michel) DeGrâce of Beresford

Michael (Kelley) of Ste. Anne, Gloucester Co., John (Renée) of Beresford and Audrey (Andrew) Scott of Canobie.

Five grandchildren: Marc Lavigne, Luc DeGrâce, Jeremie Aubé, Jayme Daley and Melanie Aubé.

Three great-grandchildren: Morgan and Katelyn Daley, Everly Aubé.

Stepdaughters, Monique, Michelle and Carole.

Step-grandchildren, Tiffany, Kevin, Simone, Aaron, Martine and Margot.

A sister Irmine Sargeant of Bathurst.

He was predeceased by his first wife Shirley (O’Neil) Aubé in 1994, daughter-in-law Carmelle Aubé in 1995, brothers; Larry Jr., Lucien, Aurele “Howie” and sisters; Martina, Odille and Theresa.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024, at 2 p.m. from Saint-Nom-de-Jésus Church, Beresford. Donations in memory of Roger may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
