With broken hearts, we the family announce the death of Wilfred Orville Dempsey, 65 of Janeville on Tuesday March 19, 2024.
Born in Stonehaven he was the son of the late Benson Dempsey and late Evelyn (MacKinnon) Dempsey.
He worked at Brunswick Mines until 1983 and has worked for Blue Cove Group, now The Barry Group as a fishbuyer on the Stonehaven wharf for the last 40 years.
Wilfred is survived by his wife of 45 years Kathy (Jagoe) Dempsey, his daughter Cynthia (Terry) of Belledune, son Shawn (Amanda) of Salmon Beach and grandson Jacob.
He is also survived by 2 brothers Arthur (Carmen) of Pokeshaw and Lawrence (Linda) of Salmon Beach, 3 sisters Barbara Carroll, Alma McQuillian (Dennis) of Georgetown, PEI and Amelia (Romeo) of Bathurst.
His mother-in-law Eva Jagoe of Janeville, 2 sister-in-laws Debbie McNeely (Eddy) of Janeville, Lorna Murty (Giles) of Salmon Beach and brother-in-law Perry Jagoe (Jenny) of Beresford.
He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, many friends and a community of local fishermen.
Besides his parents, Wilfred was predeceased by his brothers Alton and Alfred, sister Inez, brother-in-law Haldon Jagoe as well as father in law Leigh Jagoe.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses from second and third floor as well as the ladies from wound care and the pain clinics at Chaleur Regional Hospital for their excellent care of him.
The family invite you to join them for luncheon meet and greet on Tuesday March 26 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at the Chapel meeting room followed by the funeral service at the Elhatton’s funeral chapel at 2:00 pm.
For those who are not able to attend, the service will be live streamed from Shawn Dempsey’s Facebook page.
Burial will be in the Stonehaven cemetery in the Spring.
