Big River – It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Todd Hussey, of Big River, which occurred Friday June 7, 2024, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, at the age of 53, following a long hard-fought battle with cancer.
Todd was often referred to as Huzz, Huzzman, Hustler, Hat Trick Hussey by those closest to him.
His warm heart and infectious smile left an incredible mark on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He never met a person he didn’t like, and no one ever met Todd without liking him in return.
Todd spent the last 10 years working for Cementation at Diavik Diamond mine. He always referred to the boys as his family. He made special connections with all the crew. Some words they used to describe him were humble, a genuinely good person, an amazing man who would help anybody, a hard worker with a comical side & good spirits that lifted people up. He talked about the boys so often at home that our family felt like we knew them. Sasha, Big Al, Sean, Shampoo, Colin, Bart, Jared to name just a few.
Todd's life was defined by his love for people and his dedication to making those around him smile. He had the kindest eyes that made you feel loved. When he wasn’t working, his hobbies included hunting with his best buddies Jason, Marc & Peter, fishing with his daughters and wife, camping with the Cormier’s and Brown’s and spending time at his camp.
Above all, Todd loved his wife and daughters beyond measure and his greatest joy was spending time with them.
Todd is survived by his best friend and wife, Terry (Lavigne) Hussey; his cherished daughters: Taylor Hussey (Eric Morrison) and Jordan. His sisters: Jane Hussey and Donna Aubie (Gerald Chamberlain), his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Yvette Lavigne, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, Eric and Bernice (Babin) Hussey; sisters: Linda, Debbie and brothers: David and Terry.
Todd’s genuine kindness and ability to connect with people made him a cherished friend and confidant to many.
A special “Thank You” to the community for all their support and encouragement. Also to Jane & Donna who were with him every step of the way. To his “Angel Nurse” Melissa Robichaud and extra mural nurse Sophie, you both had a special place in his heart. To his Diavik family for their outpouring of love, encouragement and support. Also, the staff at BHS and Patti Jo Cormier for being there for his wife. Thank you also to Brian Fitzpatrick and staff at Jean Coutu.
The celebration of life for Todd will be held on August 24th from 11am-2pm at Youghall Camping under the tent near the pond. Guests are to enter using the service entrance (next road after the main entry) .
Todd’s legacy of warmth, generosity and ever-present smile & positivity will continue to inspire and bring comfort to all who knew him.
He will be forever missed, but his spirit will live on in the countless lives he touched.
His parting words to his daughters & wife: Live and love life and be good to people.
