With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Florence Lecouter (Lavigne), wife of the late Donat Lecouter, formerly of Bathurst, who passed away on June 21 at the Pine Grove Nursing Home in Fredericton at the age of 85.

Florence was born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Olivine (Chiasson) Lavigne. 

She is survived by her three daughters: Donna Legacy (David) of Dartmouth, Debbie Perry (Greg) of Fredericton and Carolyn Williams of North Dakota.

Florence is the loving grandmother of Matthew Perry of Nelson B.C., Emily Perry (Colin) of Fredericton and Aidan Perry of Fredericton and Abracy “Abby” Williams of North Dakota.

Four brothers: Gerald Lavigne (Cecile), Victor Lavigne, Theodore Lavigne (Jeannie), Rheal Lavigne (Denise) and a sister Jeannine Leet (Freeman).

Several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was pre-deceased by her son Marc Lecouter and brother Gordon Lavigne.

Florence enjoyed many crafts including a multitude of woodworking projects with husband Donat, she loved a good joke, singing, karaoke and had a special place in her heart for her four grandchildren.

Special thanks and appreciation goes out to the wonderful staff at the Pine Grove nursing home in Fredericton, who cared for her with great compassion in her final days.

There will no visitation. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Bathurst, with a reception to follow.
