Bathurst – William “Bill” Kenny, of Little River Dr., passed away on Wednesday, November 27th, 2024, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, at the age of 84.

Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Bernard and Yvette (Blanchard) Kenny.

He is survived by one son, Bernard “Bernie” Kenny (Stacey) of Bathurst, NB and one daughter, Cheryl Wozny (Joseph) of Vancouver, BC; four grandchildren: Megan, Alexander, Adam, and Ryan; and three great-grandchildren: Charlotte, Oliver, and Kate; as well as one brother, Dave Kenny (Yvette) of Bathurst, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by his wife, Jean (Legacy) Kenny.

Bill was the owner and operator of Kenny’s Trucking Ltd., which was founded in 1967 and is still in operation by the Kenny Family today.

During this time, he was a member of the New Brunswick Road Builders’ Association.

In his younger years, he was a dedicated member of the local Kinsmen Club, fundraising for many causes in benefit of the community. He was a dedicated volunteer and lifelong member of the Nepisiguit Sports Lodge and the local antique car club - he derived much joy from his rebuilt and restored 1951 Ford Custom which he’d proudly travel from show to show with. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and snowmobiling and could often be found on the trails driving his two seater Ski-Doo.

He loved people, and he loved to cook. Often, he’d entertain a group of friends with supper and a game of cards or would enjoy a game of crib with his friend and neighbor, Joyce.

His camp, which later became his home at Nepisiguit Falls, was his “little piece of heaven”. He would happily spend his days meticulously mowing the field, trimming the orchard’s apple trees, cleaning, organizing and tinkering within his garage, and cooking fabulous meals inside the log walls of his home.

He was fortunate to spend his final years in his own home thanks to his caregiver James Young, who would entertain him with music and activity.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 4th, at 2:00pm from the Elhatton Funeral Home Chapel (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.

Donations in memory of William may be made to the Superior Middle School Breakfast Program or a charity of the donor’s choice.
