It is with great sadness that the family of Ludger Vienneau, of Chamberlain Settlement announces his passing which occurred on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst at the age of 90.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Edith (Vienneau) Vienneau.
Ludger was a loving husband of 45 years to Judy (Chase) Vienneau.
He was a devoted father to his daughters: Patricia Vienneau (André) of Yellowknife, NWT, Linda Vienneau of Moncton and Jaqueline Vienneau (Rudy) of Neguac.
3 grandchildren: Sherri Aubé, Jesse Vienneau and Bobie Jean Vienneau.
One Great Grandson: Ashton Haley.
One brother: Lorenzo Vienneau (Jeannine) of Bathurst and a brother-in-law R. Gary Chase (Charmaine) of Fredericton.
Several nieces and nephews.
Ludger was predeceased by his first wife, Jeannine (LeBlanc); four sisters, Alderine Gray, Ada Doucet, Agatha McLean and Jeannette Boucher; two brothers, Richard and Archie.
Ludger was a native of Chamberlain Settlement. He worked for a short time in Moncton, after returning to Bathurst, he worked at the paper mill until his retirement in 1992. Ludger enjoyed spending his time snowmobiling and helping the Rough Water ski club with the grooming of the ski trails. He also volunteered for the Rough Waters Fire Department. He loved the outdoors, camping and traveling, especially traveling across Canada. He will be missed by his many friends.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A funeral date will be announced in the coming weeks. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Donations in memory of Ludger may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
The family would like to extent their thanks to nurses on the fifth floor, the Palliative Care Unit at the Chaleur Regional Hospital and to Dr. Marc-André Doucet, as well as the Extra Mural nurses and to Dr. JP Arseneau.
