Belledune – It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph Kennedy “Ken” Boudreau of Belledune, NB, announces his passing. Ken passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday (May 9, 2008) with his wife of 59 years at his side. He was a week short of his 81st birthday. Born in Pointe-Verte, NB, he was the son of the late Leon and Alice (Comeau) Boudreau. Ken served in the military from 1943 – 1956. He enlisted at the age of 16, making him one of the youngest World War II veterans among his contemporaries. Upon turning 18 he saw action and was wounded in France. After a prolonged recuperation in England, he stayed in Europe until April 1946 during the occupation. Following his army service he was a successful businessman. From 1966- 1986, he was employed with Noranda in Belledune, retiring as Chief Designer. In his retirement, he enjoyed travelling in his camper across North America on yearly trips. He never failed to impress us with his wit and intellect and he will be sorely missed. Other than his wife, Doris (Fournier) Boudreau, he is survived by: One son: Louis (Kelly) of Edmonton, AB Six daughters: Rachelle Hayes (John) of Meadow Lake, SK Gail Boudreau of Belledune, NB Karen Asselin (Réjean) of Courtney, BC Louise Bergeron (Gérald) of Ste Rosette, NB Hélène Jean (Michel) of Keswick Ridge, NB Denise Gagné (Sylvain) of Trois-Rivière, Que.
