Bathurst – Mrs. Lorine Knowles, 88, wife of the late Gordon Knowles, formerly of Clifton, passed away on Monday (March 2, 2009) at the Foyer Notre Dame de Lourdes, Bathurst, after a brief illness. Born in Port Elgin, she was the daughter of the late James and Sarah (Forrest) DeVerenne. She worked for many years at the “Turn of the Road” in Salmon Beach. She belonged to the Centennial Choir and the Christ Church Anglican Church Choir for many years. Member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Herman J. Good, V.C. Br. 18, Royal Canadian Legion, Bathurst and the Anglican Women’s Auxiliary and Bible Study. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Gordon Knowles. She is survived by: One son: Ralph Knowles of Clifton Four daughters: Kay Addison (Don) of Delhi, ON Shelley Bigney (Earl) of Janeville Betty Ann McLean (Bill) and Gail Knowles Louden (Ron) both of Bathurst One sister: Marie Dugas of Saint John, NB Daughter-in-law: Jeanie Knowles of Clifton 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a son, Carl, brothers; Edward, Albert, Leo and Desmond. The body will rest after 2 p.m. Thursday at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral Service will be held on Friday (March 6, 2009) at 1:00 p.m. from Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Christ Church Cemetery in the spring. Visiting hours are Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. For anyone wishing to send tokens of sympathy, the family would appreciate donations to Christ Church Anglican or a charity of the donors choice.
