Nancy died suddenly on 12th January 2010 in Toronto at age 63.  The daughter of Nettie (Hyslop) and the late Ward Black of Chatham , Nancy was the wife of Peter Elliot Scott.  She is survived by several cousins and her godchildren, Rebecca, Matthew, and Benjamin Reid of Brampton.

Nancy was committed to education, a graduate of Chatham High School, 1964; she attended Ambassador Bible Training Centre, Sydney, NS, 1967.  She went on to receive a Bachelor of Religious Education in Christian Education at Ontario Bible College, Toronto, 1971, a Master of Religious Education at Canadian Theological College, Regina, 1980, and a Master of Theological Studies, Ontario Theological College (Tyndale), 1986.  Nancy was accepted into the Doctor of Ministry degree programme at Tyndale Theological Seminary, Toronto for the 2010 cohort.

Nancy worked at Ontario Bible College, 1971-1987.  She was a sometime secretary, faculty member, director of admissions, 1974-1979, 1980-1984, and vocational counsellor, faculty advisor, and interim chair of Christian Education Department, 1986-1987.  She also served as part-time faculty in the Christian Education Department of Canadian Bible College, Regina, 1979-1980.

Nancy went on to pastoral ministry with the Christian and Missionary Alliance Canada for 23 years.  She was on pastoral staff at First Alliance Church, Toronto, 1987-1992, St Albert Alliance Church, St Albert, AB, 1992-1998, and Rexdale Alliance Church, Toronto, 1998-2010.  She also served as a member of the Board of Directors, C&MA Canada, 2004-2008, as well as on various denominational educational committees.

Nancy served with other organizations as well:  a Christian Education consultant to Scripture Press and David C Cook; an Executive Committee member of Canadian Board of Directors of Scripture Union of Canada; and a staff member with Muskoka Baptist Conference Grounds.

Most recently, Nancy served as a team member with The Ratanak Foundation to victims of child sex slavery in Phnom Phen and Svay Pak, Cambodia in the summer of 2009.

Nancy held membership in the National Association of Professors of Christian Education, the National Association of Directors of Christian Education, and the Evangelical Teacher Training Association.

Nancy enjoyed sports – swimming, badminton, tennis, golf, cross-country skiing, and watching figure skating; a good read – John Grisham or Bodie and Brock Thoene, a good mystery movie – Foyle’s War and Inspector Morse Mysteries; and her dog, Patches.  For Nancy, Jesus was the love of her life.  Peter, her husband, was the love of her everyday life.  She is deeply missed.

The funeral service for Nancy took place at Rexdale Alliance Church, Toronto on the 16th January 2010.

Nancy’s prayer was that 2010 would be a year of God’s sovereignty:  lived out each day; through the reality of the Lordship of Jesus; fulfilling His purposes of kingdom life in relationships and ministry; and experiencing and expressing His love, wisdom, and power.
