Bathurst - Mrs. Marguerite Kane, 89, wife of the late Frank Kane, passed away on Friday (May 21, 2010) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a brief illness.

 

Born in Jacquet River, she was the daughter of the late Gordon and Frances (Shea) Black.

 

She was a retired School Teacher from the South Bathurst School and Chalmers School and was a member of the Retired School Teacher Association and the Sacred Heart Cathedral Catholic Women's League, Bathurst.  Her favorite pastimes were reading and knitting.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Frank Kane in 1989.

She is survived by:

Two sons:

Gordon (Monique) of Bathurst

Patrick of Edmonton, AB

One daughter:

Joyce Coady (Kevin) of Prattville, Alabama, USA

Two sisters:

Helen Johnson (Claude) of Bathurst

Marie Dykeman (Wally) of Halifax, NS

One brother:

Frank Black (Mary Jean) of Sudbury, ON

11 grandchildren; Heather, Justin, Shawn, Kelly, Lauren, Renee, Steven, Danny, Bethany, Tammy, Zoë, 3 great-grandchildren; Nicholas, Olivier, Danika, several nieces and nephews. 

She was pre-deceased by a brother; Kenneth and a sister; Marion.

 

There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday (May 25, 2010) at 4 p.m. from Holy Family Church, St. Peter Ave., Bathurst.  Donations in memory of Marguerite may be made to the Retired Teachers Association, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a favorite charity.  Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
