Roberta Marion Scott - 81, of King Ave, passed away peacefully, Sunday, June 20, 2010 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a brief illness with leukemia.
Born in Red Bank, NB she was the daughter of the late Glen and Bernetta (Travis) MacTavish.
She graduated from the Jeffrey Hale Hospital School of Nursing in 1951 and then came to Bathurst to work at the Hotel Dieu Hospital. She later worked at the Chaleur Regional Hospital. She loved the outdoors and gardening and was a skilled knitter and seamstress.
Following retirement, Mum provided devoted care and company for both her parents and for Dad's sisters and brother, on the Miramichi, for many years.
She was a longtime member of the Bayview Baptist Church, a founding member of the Christian Education Board and an active member of the Atlantic Baptist Women. She was also a member of the Retired Nurses Assocation.
Mum greatly enjoyed meeting and fellowship with friends at the many church and community social events in Bathurst.
She was a loving and generous mother and grandmother, always delighted and encouraging of her children and grandchildren's interests. She will be greatly missed.
She was predeceased by beloved husband of fifty-one years, John F. (Jack) Scott, their infant son, John Gary, brothers: Dale (Marie) and William (Joan).
She is survived by:
1 Daughter: Cheryl of Halifax;
1 Son: Bruce and daughter in "love" Janet of Janeville;
2 Cherished granddaughters Grace and Julie;
1 Sister: Jean of Whitby, ON;
2 Brothers: Winston (Georgia) of Montague, PE; Daryl (Joyce) of Newcastle, NB;
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 from 7-9 PM at Elhatton's Funeral Home, 187 St. George St., Bathurst. Funeral service will be 2 PM Wednesday, June 23, 2010 from Evangel Pentecostal Church, Basin Road. Burial will be in the Highland View Cemetery. Donations in memory of Roberta may be made to Helping Hands for Haitians and Dominicans at the Evangel Church or to a charity of choice.
