It is with great sadness that the families announce the death of Gregory Calnan of Ste. Anne St., Bathurst, which occurred on Wednesday, 24th November, 2010 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst at the age of 82.

Born in North Tetagouche, NB, he was the son of the late James and Gertrude (Brennan) Calnan.

His life was spent in North Tetagouche.  He was a welder by trade working for various companies and later owning his own business,  He was best known for his musical talents as a great fiddler and also a great guitar player.  He was a member of the Legionnaires for many years and brought great joy to all who heard him play and sing.  He was always willing to share his experience, strength and hope with all those who needed to hear.
 
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Olga (Melanson) Calnan.

Twelve grandchildren: Melissa, Jason, Michelle, Mark, Brendan, Mathew, Alexandra, Shannon, Julia, Elizabeth, Celia and Holly. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
 
Gregory was the last living member of his immediate family.
He was predeceased by brothers; Dan, John and Bryan, and sisters; Frances, Eleanor, Ann, Marie and Muriel.
 
The body will rest after 2 p.m. on Friday 26th November 2010 at Elhatton Funeral Home.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday 27th November 20l0, from Holy Family Church, St. Peter ave., Bathurst at 1:30 p.m.

Donations in the memory of Gregory Calnan maybe made to the Parkinson Society of Canada or a charity of the donor's choice.
Visiting hours are:  2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, 26 November 2010, and 11:30 am until time of funeral on Saturday, 27 November 2010.
