Bathurst - Mrs. Alma Melvin, 79, of Riverside Dr., Bathurst, passed away on Tuesday (July 16, 2013) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.

Born in Saint John, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Edward and Adeline (Vautour) Goguen.

Alma worked at the TD Bank and with her husband's Melvin Distributor business.  She was actively involved with the Holy Family C.W.L., volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Bathurst Literacy Council, Bathurst Jaycettes, Superior Home and School and the Holy Family Scouts.

She was physically active throughout her life with swimming, cross country skiing, walking, seniors skating, bowling and curling.

Alma is survived by her loving husband, Ronald F. Melvin.

Five children: Donna Melvin, Karen Melvin, (K.C. Lim), Glenn Melvin (Frances), Terri Melvin, Tina Stowe (Dave). 

Four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

One brother, Francis Goguen (Mary).

Several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Elhatton's Funeral Home, Bathurst on Friday evening (July 19, 2013) from 7 to 9 p.m. only.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning (July 20, 2013) at 11 a.m. from Holy Family Church, St. Peter Ave., Bathurst. 

In memory of Alma, donations may be made to the Parkinson's Society or a favorite charity.
