Surrounded by her family, the death of Sandra Lee Jabora of Bathurst, occurred Tuesday, November 20th, 2007 at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Sandy was pre-deceased by her late father Herbert Jabora in 1989 and by her mother, the late Josephine Assaff Jabora in 2001, as well as her uncle Tony in 1972 and her beloved grandmother Almoza (Rosa) Assaff, in 1970. She is survived by her only sister Barbara Jabora-Scott, her dearest nephew Anthony and her beloved niece Johanna Lee. She has six surviving cousins on her mother's side: Donald, Marie, Paul, Ruth, George and Georgette Assaff. On her father's side she is survived by her Aunts Lucy and Lily and Uncle John and their children. She has two second cousins in Campbellton Joyce Hello Levesque and John Hello. She leaves many dear friends who were like family to her. Sandy worked at Byrne office for E.G. Byrne and Tom Riordon after graduation, as a secretary and paralegal. She left this employment in 1972 after the death of her Uncle Tony to work at her mother's side in the family business of R. Assaff & Son Ltd. When the business was sold to Hudson Bay in 1975 she became the office manager for Hudson Bay. At the same time she ran a corner store/lunch counter called the San-Bar. Sandy was a member and past treasurer of the Sacred Heart Council of the Catholic Women's League; she was also a member of the Administrative council of Sacred Heart Cathedral. She had memberships at Gowan Brae Golf and Country club and Bathurst Curling club. She was an avid reader, photographer and loved every genre of music. Sandy was an extraordinary person, yet was very unassuming. Her generosity and ''behind the scene'' tasks were for her to know and no one else to find out. Her friends ranged from 2 to 92 years old, and they would say that she was kind, patient, trustworthy, fun-loving and compassionate. She treated all people with respect and dignity. She prided herself on always keeping her word and would not make a promise she could not keep. She had a zest for living, embraced hard work and was generous in every way. She has been described as having a keen sense of business, a cross between grandmother Rosa and mother Josephine. Her love for God, family, Church, friends and country was without end. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends. Her body will rest at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com) after 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 27, 2007. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Cathedral at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 28, 2207 by Father T. Gregory Culligan; followed by burial at the family plot at South Bathurst Cemetery.
