It is with sadness that the family of Maria Landry wish to announce her death which occurred following a short illness at the Chaleur Regional Hospital on August 5^th, 2010. Maria was born in Stonehaven (N.B.) to Stanislas Landry and Julie Guignard. Her father passed away on the day of her birth and her mother later remarried widower Jean-Baptiste Landry of Bathurst. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Maria, an avid golfer, swimmer, curler and card player trained as a nurse but worked most of her life as a clerk/accountant for various businesses in Bathurst, notably Sand’s Department Store and the furniture business of J.P. Surkis.

She was predeceased by her step siblings Edmond (late Rita Leblanc); Alphonse, Mercedes (late Adolphus Picot), Émile (late Eugénie Desroches) and Thérèse (Gregory Boyle). She is survived by her brother-in-law Gregory Boyle and his wife Eunice, cousins and a great number of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, their families and her many friends.

The family wishes to express their thanks to the competent staff of the 4^th floor (C.R.H.) along with the Palliative Care Unit. Many thanks also to the staff at Résidence D.M. Boudreau in Bathurst.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, St. Peter Avenue at 2 P.M., Tuesday, August 10^th. At her request, there will be no visitation. Arrangements are in the hands of Elhatton’s Funeral Home in Bathurst.
