Bathurst - Mrs. Margaret Lavigne, 94, wife of the late Gordon Lavigne, formerly of Rough Waters, passed away on Saturday (December 11, 2010) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.
 
Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Jacques and Clara (Lavigne) Doucet.
She worked at the former Eaton's Order Office in Bathurst and the East Bathurst Post Office.  She was a dedicated volunteer with the Saint John Ambulance and a member of Ladies Auxiliary of the Herman J. Good, V.C. Br. 18 Royal Canadian Legion, Bathurst.  She had an enthusiasm for life and enjoyed many hobbies from playing cards to playing the piano.  She loved to dance, sing and have fun.


She was pre-deceased by her husband, Gordon, in 1970 and is survived by: One daughter, Rose-Marie Pitre (Lawrence) of Bathurst; One sister, Doris Ferland of Mississauga, ON
7 grandchildren, Cathie Boucher (Cletus), Donna Hartinger (Paul), Gordon Pitre (Jane), Gordon Lavigne, Randy Pitre (Liette), Jody Pitre (Bonnie) and Suzanne Lavigne.  13 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
 
She was pre-deceased by 2 sons, Roger, Doran; 3 brothers, Allie, Clarence, Warren; 2 sisters, Kathleen and Amanda.
 
There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home.  A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Tuesday afternoon (December 14, 2010) at 4 p.m. from Elhatton's Funeral Home Chapel with Fr. Greg Culligan officiating.  Donations in memory of Margaret may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, New Brunswick Alzheimer’s Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or a favorite charity.  Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
