Mrs. Kathleen Ramsay

Bathurst - Mrs. Kathleen Ramsay (1914 – 2011), wife of the late Colin Windfield Ramsay (1918 – 1981), formerly of Carron Dr., Bathurst, passed away after a loving and full life on Saturday (August 20, 2011) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.

Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late William Sylvainus and Lelia Ellen (Smith) Hussey.

Kathleen was the last member of her immediate family and was pre-deceased by brothers Henry Hussey (Porquis Junction, ON), William "Bill" Hussey (Saint John, NB), Earl Hussey (Bathurst), Lyndel Hussey (Bathurst) and sister Bernice (Hussey) Erwin (St. Catherine’s, ON).

Kathleen is survived by her five children; Jean Vienneau (Leonard Legacy) of Bathurst, Lelia Cook (Cyril) of Orleans, ON, Michael Ramsay (Anne Marie) of Bathurst, Ralph Ramsay (Audrey) of Bathurst, Coleen Ramsay (Mike Vienneau) of Bathurst.  Sisters in-laws; Vera Jagoe (late Hazen), Ruth Daley (late Alton), Joan Ramsay (late Ivan).  Grandchildren Tracey Vienneau, Jody Vienneau, Chrystal Vienneau, James Vienneau, Ramsay Cook, Carson Cook, Andrew Ramsay, Janet Ramsay, Chad Ramsay, Jamie Ramsay; great-grandchildren Owen Hickey, Ethan Hickey, Phenix Cook and Kingston Cook as well as several nieces and nephews.

Kathleen was a dedicated wife and mother.  She met and married the love of her life Colin, with whom she raised five children.  She taught school in BigRiver, South Bathurst and BassRiver.  She left teaching after the birth of her first child.  Kathleen was a very strong role model for her loving family and she was a loyal friend.  She has a very devote faith in God and in the power of prayer.  She was a Child of Mary, member of the Order of the Miraculous Medal and former member of the Mount Carmel English Choir.  Over the years Kathleen was satisfied with very little. She always found enough to share with family and friends and to donate to her many charities.  Her home on Carron Point was her castle and no one left her home without a full tummy, some sort of delicious baked good or a fresh garden vegetable.  She was an avid gardener, loved to travel, read, play cards, sing, walk Daley Point and the NB Trails.  She loved to talk religion and politics.  But most of all, she loved to be surrounded by her family.  As the heart and head of her home, she was never more content than when caring for her husband, children, grandchildren, extended family and friends.  Kathleen, her sage wisdom, quick wit, boundless love and generosity, not to mention her Friday night fish suppers and Sunday morning brunches (including sermons), will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

The body will rest after 2 p.m. Monday at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday morning (August 23, 2011) at 11 a.m. from HolyFamilyChurch, St. Peter Ave., Bathurst.  Visiting hours are Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until time of Funeral.  Donations in memory of Kathleen may be made to a favorite charity.
